Jeffrey A. Nerad, M.D., F.A.C.S. is an Ophthalmic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Cincinnati Eye Institute (CEI), a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Nerad is a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and is the current president of the society. A native of California, Dr. Nerad completed his undergraduate work at the University of California and medical school and residency training at Saint Louis University. He then completed his fellowship training at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and at the University of Iowa.

Prior to joining Cincinnati Eye Institute, he held the position of Professor of Ophthalmology & Otolaryngology at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa for over 20 years. At the University, he was the Director of the Oculoplastic and Orbital Surgery Service where he performed over 1000 surgeries each year. In 2008, he was awarded the Fuerste Professorship of Ophthalmology for his patient care, teaching and research.

Dr. Henson specializes in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.  This subspecialty of Ophthalmology focuses on both cosmetic and functional problems of the eyelids, eyebrows, lacrimal system and orbit.  She performs a variety of surgeries to correct drooping upper eyelids, bags under the eyes, excessive tearing and eye socket problems.  In addition, Dr. Henson is available for consultation at the new Face and Eye Aesthetic Center for patients interested in cosmetic facial rejuvenation.  She offers a variety of non-surgical treatments including Botox, facial fillers, and CO2 laser resurfacing of the skin.

Dr. Henson is a graduate of Miami University and received her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.  She completed her residency in Ophthalmology and fellowship in pediatric eye diseases at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida.   Dr. Henson then returned to Cincinnati to complete her fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Cincinnati Eye Institute.   She joined CEI in 2011.


Dr. Henson is Board Certified in Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.  She is a member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
